Legal advisor (internal)

In this job you will use your knowledge of commercial law to help your organization accomplish the projects they have scoped. You do this by advising them in legal issues that arise. You also contribute by drafting and negotiating contracts.

As a legal advisor it is your responsibility that your company is up to date on their legal practices and relevant employees are taught these practices.

What does a Legal advisor do?

• Draft and negotiate contracts
  
  
• Provide legal advice to managers and colleagues
  
  
• Be contact point for external collaborators in legal matters
  
  
• Determine and communicate which legal practice to follow
  
  
• Participate in projects where legal aid is needed
  
  
• Update yourself on relevant legal areas such as GDPR, competition law and compliance

Example of work as a Legal advisor

A larger provider of cleaning services for office buildings have landed a new client.

They invite their legal advisor to participate in the next meeting with the client.

At the meeting they discuss the terms of agreement – what areas are included and what areas are not included.

Afterwards the legal advisor makes a draft of the contract between the two parties. The contract is reviewed by the client who has some changes.

By jumping on a call with the client the legal advisor is able to negotiate a contract that both parties are satisfied with.

He finalizes the contract and sends it to signing.
