Business analyst

Business analysts break down data to inform data driven decisions. As a business analyst you can work in different business areas depending on your area of expertise. The business area decides the type of analysis you work primarily on. This could for example be segment analysis, KPI analysis, risk analysis, scenario analysis or safety analysis.

What does a Business analyst do?

Example of work as a Business analyst

A large webshop have hired a business analyst to increase their knowledge of their customers.

Based on the data from the webshop the business analyst will evaluate campaigns, make forecasts and do pricing analysis.

To do this the business analyst needs to form relations to both the Marketing department as well as the Insight department because each have some of the needed data.

The business analyst compiles this data.

Using quantitative analysis, she identifies actionable insights. She then applies data story telling abilities and data visualization techniques to make a presentation that serves as a decision proposal for top management with recommendations for actions.
